Abed:You know that thing where a TV show opens with an intriguing scene, then cuts to 'three weeks earlier'? It's a classic narrative device used to hook the audience.

Abed:Wait... oh no. We're doing that right now, aren't we?

Abed:Oh, by the way, there's a giant hand on the roof.

Elroy:The whole Earth is my backyard.

Abed:You're homeless.

Troy:You should get a black eye. It would make everything more mysterious.

Britta:What? No!

Abed:He's right. Every good show needs a mysterious injury. It raises questions.

Dean Pelton:I'm sorry, but I can't do that. This RV is too small for private conversations. If you close that door, I can hear everything you say from out here. Last week, someone had a personal moment in there, and I heard every word. It was very uncomfortable for both of us.

Britta:It's okay, Elroy. I know your living situation isn't ideal, but you're not alone.

Elroy:Really?

Britta:I've lived in my car. I've squatted in a warehouse. I once spent three weeks in a dentist's office supply closet because I thought the fluoride would help my teeth.

Elroy:That's... that's not helping.

Britta:Oh! And I have a weird rash on my left hip that only itches on Thursdays when it rains and I've eaten shellfish.

Abed:I'm going to hijack the RV.

Jeff:You can't hijack an RV. It's not a plane. Post-9/11 security measures don't apply.

Troy:Guys, we're out of gas!

Abed:No we're not. The needle just fell off.

Pierce:That happens sometimes. I once had a gauge that was so broken, it pointed backwards.

Britta:How does a needle point backwards?

Pierce:With great difficulty and a lot of spite.

Jeff:Maybe a squirrel ate it.

Annie:A squirrel ate the gas gauge needle?

Jeff:Squirrels eat everything. Last week one ate my entire car.

Shirley:That doesn't make any sense.

Jeff:Neither does a squirrel eating a car, but here we are.

Multiple Characters:People are yelling and panicking

Character:Stop yelling!

Character:STOP YELLING!

Character:EVERYONE STOP YELLING NOW!

Elroy:Why are you guys charging your phones?! We just talked about this! We said we were gonna be prepared!

Group Member:That's what we're doing...

Elroy:No! You're supposed to panic first!

Abed:I'm going to stop with the meta-commentary. *pulls out script* According to stage directions, I now look conflicted. *pauses* That was my reaction to dropping the meta thing. In a very meta way.

Jeff:I've been on hold for twenty minutes. This is ridiculous.

Frankie:You know what? I learned this aggressive phone tactic from my mother. She'd put people on hold just to assert dominance.

Jeff:That's... actually kind of brilliant in a disturbing way.

Jeff:Armed Forces Day gets totally overshadowed by Memorial Day.

Britta:It's like Hanukkah being overshadowed by Christmas.

Jeff:Except Hanukkah is actually important to people who celebrate it.

Jeff:We could reroute the parade like they do for other events.

Troy:Yeah, like what other events?

Jeff:I don't know, parades.

Abed:We could fake an assassination threat.

Britta:That's illegal.

Abed:They did it for JFK.

Jeff:JFK was actually assassinated, Abed.

Abed:Allegedly.

Jeff:Holidays are just commercialized constructs designed to reinforce capitalist consumption patterns and nostalgic mythology.

Britta:Oh my God, you're not even listening to yourself right now. You're just throwing out big words to sound smart. That's so pretentious.

Britta:Did I just Britta this?

Britta:I can't believe I just used my own name as a verb for messing something up.

Jeff:That's a terrible philosophy. You can't just make decisions in the moment without thinking about the consequences.

Jeff:Which is why I'm committing to avoiding that particular moment forever.

Jeff:Look, I'm not going to stand here and blame anyone for what happened. We all made mistakes. We all have to take responsibility. I'm not pointing fingers at—

Jeff:Actually, you know what? This is entirely Pierce's fault.

Troy:If we were stranded, who would you eat first?

Abed:Biologically speaking, Annie. She's got the least muscle mass, so she'd be the most efficient source of protein relative to effort expended.

Annie:What?!

Abed:It's just logic.

Dean Pelton:That's not how you say it! You're making my pun sound stupid on purpose!

Abed:See? This is what I was talking about. We're just standing here explaining backstory to each other like it's natural conversation.

Abed:This is narrative pipe. Clunky exposition.

Abed:My flashback idea would've been way smoother.

Abed:Although, to be fair, I'm starting to have doubts myself.

Jeff:Abed, do you have to narrate everything? Just once, can you experience something without turning it into a TV reference?

Troy:You know what? I'm gonna do some stand-up comedy. That always lightens the mood.

Troy:So Arnold and Dracula walk into a bar. Arnold says, 'This is my favorite bar.' Dracula says, 'I'm going to suck your blood.' Arnold says, 'That's not very friendly.'

Audience:[silence]

Troy:...Nobody? Really?

Jeff Winger:You know what's weird? We call it a 'butt' but we sit on our butts. Shouldn't it be called a 'sit'?

Jeff Winger:[long pause] ...I'm dying up here.

Elroy:When civilization collapses, I've calculated who dies first based on phone battery usage. Those with less than 20% get blankets. Those with 20-50% get nothing. Those above 50%? Well, they're clearly not taking this seriously enough.

Elroy:I apologize for the RV partition. It's not just a barrier of plywood and regret—it's a metaphysical boundary between the man I was and the man I'm trying to become. It's Plato's cave wall, separating us from the shadows of our former selves. That partition whispers the name of God in the language of particle board.

Frankie:Wait. This is literally the worst thing I've ever done. Oh my God, I've been perfect.

Annie:I forgive all of you. Despite the fact that none of you have actually wronged me in any way.

Annie:I forgive you.

Jeff:You forgive me? You don't get to forgive me! You're a turd!

Dean:Child abuse? That's a serious accusation. I'm calling the police and the state board of education. You're going down for this!

Dean:And I'm documenting everything in triplicate for my records.

Dean Pelton:I am a fully grown adult! I make my own decisions! I have a job, I have responsibilities!

Dean Pelton:And I am NOT sorry! Do you hear me? NOT sorry!

Dean Pelton:I will NOT apologize for being the man that I am!

Annie:He's like a puppy that just needs behavioral training. We could put him in one of those programs.

Jeff:Don't make eye contact. If you acknowledge him, you're just reinforcing the behavior.

Jeff:It's like dog training. You give in now, he's gonna throw a tantrum every time he doesn't get his way.

Dean Pelton:You should be nice to me. I'm dehydrated from crying and I need electrolyte replacement.

Dean Pelton:I'm too dehydrated to cry without electrolyte replacement.

Dean:My only ally is someone who treats people like game pieces.

Dean:Oh my God, a hand! There's a hand on my car!

Annie:We need to call the police!

Abed:Actually, we don't. This is clearly a cutaway gag. If we just don't acknowledge it and cut to the next scene, it never happened.

Abed:We lost the hand haphazardly.

Troy:Haphazardly? More like... hand-hazardly.

Dean Pelton:I appreciate the apology, but I'm afraid I can't let you back in.

Jeff:What?! But we just—

Dean Pelton:No, no, no. You heard me. You're banned. Permanently.

Britta:Dean, please, we made a mistake—

Dean Pelton:Actually, you know what? You're all welcome back. Apology accepted. Come on in!

Troy:I'm gonna take the hand. We need supplies.

Abed:I find the whole survival scenario kind of attractive.

Britta:I have a plan to help everyone, but honestly, the fact that I'm announcing it out loud probably undermines the whole thing. I can't help myself though.

Britta:Okay, I have a plan. Wait, no, I'm sabotaging myself by thinking out loud about having a plan instead of just executing the plan. Why do I always do this?

Dean Pelton:Britta, your voice goes up at the end of every sentence like you're asking a question? It's called 'uptalk' and it undermines everything you're trying to say.

Annie:I'm really sorry. I mean it.

Dean:Oh my God, you're a sociopath. That was way too convincing.

Dean:You know what, Abed? You're the most human among all of us.

Abed:I don't feel anything about that.

Dean:You're the only human among them.

Dean:Which is ironic, because you're the least human.

Abed:Offense is impossible.

Jeff:Abed, I need your help. The Dean's been acting weird and I think—

Abed:I almost killed him.

Jeff:What?

Abed:Last week. I was showing him my film equipment and he leaned against the tripod. If it had fallen the right way, the leg could have gone through his carotid artery. He was three inches from death.

Jeff:Okay, that's... that's not what I meant.

Abed:Wait, I've been Nolan-ing this the whole time, haven't I?

Abed:That's actually a really efficient narrative structure.

Jeff:Okay, so in the year 3015, we're all long dead, right? And archaeologists are studying our era.

Britta:This is the Mesozoic era of human civilization.

Troy:We're the dinosaurs!

Abed:Actually, we're more like the meteor. We're the extinction event.

Pierce:I don't like being compared to a space rock.

Shirley:Lord have mercy, we haven't even finished this semester and we're already ancient history.

Abed:Hands are the tools of creation, the instruments through which we build our world. They reach out in compassion, they build monuments to our ambition, they hold the ones we love.

Abed:But hands are also instruments of destruction. They can take life as easily as they give it. And in the darkest corners of human nature, hands have done unspeakable things.

Abed:In fact, did you know that babies instinctively grab at things? If a baby gets close enough to someone's face, it will reach out and jab its fingers directly into their eyes without hesitation or mercy.

Abed:You have to let go of your ego, your pride, your need for validation.

Abed:Let go of your childhood memories, your first love, your dreams of becoming a dancer.

Abed:Let go of your favorite TV shows, your comfort foods, your... buttered noodles.

Troy:I defecated out of fear.

Jeff:Can you lie about that?

Troy:Oh yeah, absolutely!

Blake:You don't understand. My son... he disappeared because of a giant kite. A giant kite, do you hear me? Ever since that day, I've been trying to fill the void with giant objects. Giant furniture, giant art, giant everything. Maybe if I surround myself with enormous things, I won't feel so small. So helpless.
