Annie:That's not true! I'm very cat-like. I'm independent, I'm flexible, I land on my feet, and I have excellent night vision.

Abed:Your pupils are the size of dinner plates. How much Adderall did you take?

Britta:I don't know, like... three?

Abed:Britta, you're not seeing things clearly because you're on drugs, not because of anything supernatural.

Annie:Cats love me.

Annie:The cat then proceeded to maul my face, shred my arms, and knock me unconscious.

Abed:That exposition was embarrassing.

Abed:Let me try that again. I'm Abed Nadir, a film student at Greendale Community College. My friends are Jeff Winger, a disbarred lawyer; Britta Perry, a former psychology major; Annie Edison, an overachiever; Troy Barnes, a former football player turned audio enthusiast; and Shirley Bennett, a single mother and devout Christian. We study in the study room.

Dean Pelton:What are all these documents I'm dropping?

Dean Pelton:Oh, these aren't documents at all. I'm carrying a inflatable pool flamingo, three pairs of novelty socks, and a half-eaten sandwich from 2007.

Dean Pelton:Just kidding, they were documents the whole time.

Frankie:We bought virtual reality equipment we can't afford, with money we don't have, to teach classes nobody asked for. That's not a school initiative, that's a cry for help.

Frankie:I need that like a hole in the head.

Dean:That's an idiom meaning you don't want or need something at all.

Dean:But technically, you do have a hole in your head. Right there. Your mouth.

Jeff:VR is completely outdated. The last place I saw it was in a cereal commercial from 1993.

Jeff:I can't help you move, Britta. I have a thing.

Britta:A thing? What thing?

Jeff:You know, a thing. It's very important and I can't talk about it.

Frankie:I'm worried about how much we're spending.

Dean Pelton:Don't be concerned, Frankie. You're my little bean counter... or should I say, my little *Queen* counter?

Dean Pelton:I'm about to enter virtual reality while you're all stuck in two dimensions. I guess you could say I'm going to the third dimension. The Dean's dimension!

Dean Pelton:I have conquered worlds! I have toppled empires! I have made the font... bigger.

Britta:I've been getting really good interview feedback lately. My recruiter says I have great potential. Although, I did cut my recruiter's hair last week and she hasn't returned my calls since.

Abed:I bought this couch because it's perfect for shenanigans. Studies show that shenanigans increase property value by up to 40 percent.

Britta:That's not how economics works.

Abed:That's what Big Furniture wants you to think.

Abed:So there's this Portuguese knockoff of Gremlins called 'Gremlins 3: The Home Invasion' and it's shot entirely on a camcorder in someone's apartment. The gremlins are just guys in green morphsuits. One of them keeps looking directly at the camera.

Abed:But here's the thing — it's kind of brilliant? Like, the budget constraints force this weird honesty. The main gremlin has to explain the plot because there's no money for special effects to show what's happening.

Abed:It's like international knockoffs are just unfiltered access to pure creativity before it gets focus-grouped into a Marvel movie. You know what I mean?

Dean:How do I... what is this? Why is my email in a medieval castle?

Dean:And why do I have to joust a knight to access my calendar?

Frankie:That's just how it's designed, Dean.

Dean:Well, can we change it to something more professional?

Frankie:There are other themes. You could use the pirate ship, the space station, or the dinosaur jungle.

Dean:Those are the professional options?!

Dean Pelton:I need to print a file. First, I'll need to fill out form 27-B in triplicate, submit it to the registrar's office, wait for approval, then take it to the IT department during their office hours, which are Tuesdays from 2 to 2:15 PM. Once approved, I'll need to sacrifice a small woodland creature at the Greendale altar, recite the printer's incantation three times backwards, and finally—if the spirits are willing—my document will emerge from the machine.

Jeff:Frankie's like if Abed and Annie had a baby, but the baby was raised by a self-help seminar.

Abed:It's not just a trashy knockoff movie. It's a deconstruction of post-colonial anxieties manifested through the metaphor of destructive creatures.

Jeff:Abed, it's Portuguese Gremlins. There's no deep political meaning.

Abed:That's exactly what they want you to think.

Chang:My hand! My hand is hurt! Someone get me a band-aid!

Jeff:I'm terrible with dates. I remember exactly where I was when 9/11 happened, but I couldn't tell you what year it was.

Britta:What kind of friends are we?

Jeff:Poor ones. We're in community college.

Jeff:It's like love at first sight. You see something beautiful, and for a moment, nothing else matters. You're willing to overlook everything — logic, reason, your entire value system.

Jeff:And then she takes off her pants.

Elroy:You know what? I've been thinking about phone etiquette. When someone calls you, there's this unwritten rule where you're supposed to ask for their name if you don't recognize their voice. But here's the thing—what if you DO recognize their voice, but you're not 100% sure? Do you ask anyway and risk insulting them by pretending you don't know who they are? Or do you just play along and hope they tell you their name naturally in conversation? Because if you guess wrong and it turns out to be someone else entirely, now you've committed to a false identity for the entire call. You're trapped. You're locked in. There's no graceful exit.

Jeff:You know, it's funny. This whole VR system is unnecessarily complicated. I mean, look at a phone—simple, elegant, intuitive.

Elroy:Primitive. A phone is primitive.

Elroy:Oh man, I saw that movie. I was a motion capture actor on that film.

Elroy:Had a date with one of the key grips that night. Very glamorous.

Jeff:And another thing—I'm NOT compensating for anything!

Britta's Mom:It's hard to stay in touch with Britta.

Britta's Dad:She never calls, she never writes.

Britta's Mom:Last we heard, she was in some kind of trouble.

Britta's Dad:Yeah, arson or something.

Britta's Mom:Mm-hmm.

Britta's Mother:So honey, we heard you're dating someone new! That's wonderful!

Britta's Father:Yes, yes! And we don't care if they're a man, woman, or non-binary individual. We're very progressive.

Britta's Mother:We've been reading articles about modern relationships. Very eye-opening!

Britta's Father:In fact, we'd love to hear all about your sexual preferences. No judgment here!

Britta's Mother:We even made a casserole for you two to share. It's quinoa-based, very trendy.

Britta's Father:And we got you this book: 'Understanding Your Millennial Child.' It has worksheets!

Britta:I want my restrictive parents back. I miss being oppressed.

Britta:My parents were way too paranoid. They wouldn't let me do anything. They made me wear a helmet just to go to the mailbox.

Britta:One time I asked if I could ride my bike to Jenny's house three blocks away, and my dad said, 'Absolutely not. What if a falcon swoops down and mistakes you for a field mouse?'

Britta:So I said, 'Dad, I weigh 110 pounds.' And he goes, 'Exactly. That's prime field mouse weight.'

Britta's Dad:Well, she's upset.

Dean:I've been in here for hours and I finally did it. I added an accent mark to a document.

Dean:This is the pinnacle of human achievement.

Elroy:I invented 'Get to the chopper!' I invented 'We're gonna need a bigger boat.' I invented 'Yippee-ki-yay, motherf***er.' Well, actually Bruce Willis invented that last one, but I invented it first.

Jeff:You know why we mythologize our parents? Because it makes us the heroes of our own story. If they're flawed, we're just inheriting their mess. But if they're these larger-than-life figures we had to overcome? Now we're the ones who rose above it.

Dean Pelton:I need the power to manipulate entire worlds in virtual reality.

Elroy:Here you go.

Elroy:*hands him a regular computer mouse*

Britta:I've been thinking a lot about what I want to say to my parents. About growing up, taking responsibility, learning from mistakes...

Britta:And I realized the most important life lesson is that we're all just slowly dying, and nothing we do really matters in the end.

Britta:When I'm middle-aged, my parents and I will go to brunch together, and we'll have a really nice time. Then when I'm in my fifties, we'll take a cruise. When I'm sixty, we'll go to the Grand Canyon. When I'm seventy, we'll just sit in a room together and wait to die.

Britta's Mom:It's so good to see you, sweetheart.

Chang:Yeah, hey, while you're here, my scrotum has been itching for three weeks. I think it's a heat rash. Do you know anything about that?

Britta's Mom:I... I'm sorry, who are you?

Chang:It's Chang! Come on, we've been through so much together.

Dean Pelton:Greendale isn't just a school, Elroy. It's a way of life. Once you're here, you never really leave.

Elroy:That sounds like a prison.

Dean Pelton:It is. But with better Wi-Fi and a surprisingly active alumni network.

Abed:The only constant in life is change. And the only thing that never changes is that change is always changing. Which means change itself is the one thing we can count on to never stay the same. So really, when you think about it, nothing ever changes at all.
