Homer:Alright kids, listen up. You gotta learn the latest slang if you wanna fit in at school. It's all about being hip and groovy.

Bart:Dad, nobody says groovy anymore.

Homer:Don't sass me, boy. Now, when something is cool, you say it's far out. And if you really like a girl, you tell her she's a real fox. That's the bee's knees of compliments.

Lisa:Those terms are from the 1970s, Dad.

Homer:Exactly! 1970s slang is totally tubular and radical. You kids need to be more with it. Now get out there and tell everyone at school how groovy they are. And if anyone gives you trouble, you just tell 'em to take a chill pill. That's real talk.

Radio DJ:You're listening to KLED, comma, Led Zeppelin.

Homer:You kids don't appreciate good music. Back in my day, we had real musicians—talented, passionate, innovative artists who pushed the boundaries of rock and roll.

Bart:Yeah, yeah, Dad. Who did you listen to?

Homer:Well, there was this one band—incredible guitarists, mind-blowing drum solos, lyrics that spoke to the soul, a bass player with impeccable timing, a frontman with raw charisma and stage presence, and honestly, they were just... competent.

Homer:Rock and roll will never die!

Marge:Homer, why don't you look up some information about that band at the library?

Homer:The library? Marge, that's where they keep the books.

Homer:You see, if you nod your head, it means yes. But if you shake your head, it means no. But what if you do this? *tilts head* That means maybe.

Homer:You see, rock music evolved from blues and folk, with bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones pioneering the genre in the 1960s. Then came progressive rock with Yes and Genesis, and the Alan Parsons Project revolutionized everything by being the first band to use a computer.

Homer:That's why they're called the Alan Parsons Project – because Alan Parsons literally launched himself into space in 1982 to escape the music industry.

Homer:Hey kids, I'm down with the lingo. That's totally rad, dude!

Bart:Dad, nobody says 'rad' anymore.

Lisa:And you're not down with anything. You're up with your stomach.

Bart:Yeah, the correct slang is 'that slaps' or 'that bussin', for real for real, no cap.

Homer:I have no idea what you just said.

Homer:Yeah, like that time I went to the Metalvania Festival in '87. Best three days of my life. Well, except for the part where I got stuck in a porta-potty. And the part where I thought I was hallucinating but it was just Mötley Crüe.

Record Store Clerk:So you're saying music has really evolved over the decades?

Homer:That's right. And I've decided that all music made after 1974 is garbage.

Record Store Clerk:But... what about the last few decades of great music?

Homer:Nope. I've made my decision and I'm sticking to it. I'm an expert on these things.

Homer:I call it the 'Shag-O-Matic'.

Grandpa Simpson:Kids these days with their rock and roll music. Back in my day, we had real music!

Homer:Dad, every generation thinks the new music is worse. Your parents probably said the same thing about swing.

Grandpa Simpson:Well... yeah, but I was right.

Homer:That's exactly what your parents thought too. It's not about the music being bad—it's about getting older and not understanding things anymore.

Bart:Dad, you don't understand youth culture at all.

Lisa:Yeah, you're totally out of touch.

Homer:Out of touch? Why, I'm as hip as they come. I know all about the youths and their... their rapping and their... their... well, back in my day, *I* was cool. And then one day I wasn't. And you know why? Time happened.

Bart:We're not gonna be like Dad!

Lisa:Yeah, we're gonna be different!

Homer:That's what I said... forever ago.

Homer:Forever.

Homer:Forever.

Marge:Homer, what's wrong? You've been staring at that record player all morning.

Homer:Marge, I don't understand any music anymore. All these new bands... I'm completely out of touch.

Marge:Well, maybe you should listen to the radio more often.

Homer:I do listen to the radio, and I don't recognize a single song!

Marge:Oh Homer, I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't known what any music was since 1985.

Homer:Back in my day, I was cool. I'd rock out to KISS - 'You shook me all night long!'

Homer:Then I discovered beer and nachos.

Homer:Now I'm more like 'You woke me at 3 AM because the fridge is humming funny.'

Milhouse:Hey guys, check it out. I'm wearing deodorant now.

Bart:So?

Milhouse:So? So I'm becoming a man!

Milhouse:Where's Homer? He was supposed to pick me up three hours ago!

Homer:Sorry I'm late, Milhouse. I forgot you existed.

Milhouse:That's not an excuse!

Homer:I'm getting old, my memory's not what it used to be.

Milhouse:You're only forty-something!

Homer:Yeah, well, I need one of those brain medicines. You know, the ones that make you remember stuff?

Lisa:Class rings? At a concert?

Bart:Yeah, and they're really excited about it too. There's a whole section: 'Make your class ring memories last forever!'

Security:I'm going to need to see some ID and check your bag.

Attendee:Sure, here you go.

Security:What's this? Homemade alcohol?

Attendee:It's just for personal use!

Security:You're going to have to give me that, your wallet, your shoes, and your dignity.

Concert Promoter:Teenagers will pay good money to feel worse about themselves.

Homer Simpson:Well, Peter, look on the bright side. At least you still have your hair.

Peter Frampton:My hair?! That pig ate my guitar and ruined my show!

Homer:Well, Marge, I'm not a freak. I'm just a regular guy who happens to fit in with circus performers.

Homer:A week?! But, Doc, what if I just put it on a shelf and only look at it?

Doctor Nick:Well, the shelf would have to be at least six feet high, and you'd need to wear a blindfold whenever you enter that room.

Homer:Done!

Doctor:Mr. Simpson, you're going to have to stop eating donuts. Your cholesterol is dangerously high.

Homer:But doc, I'm gonna die anyway, right? So I might as well live fast and die young.

Doctor:That's not exactly the medical advice I was giving you.

Homer:Leave the docs to the rock and roll, doc. Woohoo!

Homer:Any messages for Elvis?

Doctor:No. But here's a prescription for your baldness, a book on anger management, and a pamphlet on diabetes.

Lisa:Dad, I'm doing a report on personal hygiene. When was the last time you bathed?

Homer:Well, let's see... there was that time I fell in the quarry...

Lisa:That doesn't count. I mean intentionally.

Homer:Oh. Then I dunno. Sometime in the '90s?

Backstage Manager:Who ordered the orchestra?

Backstage Manager:It must have been those rappers. They're probably on drugs.

Conductor:What is this music we're supposed to play?

Stage Manager:It's 'Insane in the Membrane' by Cypress Hill.

Conductor:But we're a classical orchestra!

Mr. Burns:Smithers, why is our Ticketmaster investment underperforming?

Smithers:Well sir, it seems the public objects to paying $45 for a $20 ticket.

Mr. Burns:Pish posh! And what's wrong with that?

Smithers:They say it's exploitative, sir.

Homer:You know, being in a rock band was the greatest experience of my life. We had fans, we had groupies, we had everything a musician could dream of.

Homer:But now I realize what I miss most about those days...

Homer:The free nachos at the venue.

Homer:Yeah, I was really into rock and roll back in the day. Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, all the greats.

Homer:You know, I always wondered why they called that one song 'Welcome to the Jungle.' I mean, there's no jungle around here.

Homer:But then I realized—they probably meant 'Welcome to the Buffet.' Much more my speed.

Freak Show Manager:We don't want you.

Homer Simpson:Oh. Well, can you at least tell me what I did wrong?

Freak Show Manager:You're too fat.

Homer Simpson:Hey! I may be a coward, but I'm not a quitter!
